Standing Strong Because I Know Him

Day 1: Introduction – Standing Strong When Life Presses In

You wake up feeling calm and confident. Your mind is clear, your heart is light, and for a moment, it feels like you are finally experiencing that "peace that surpasses all understanding." But then life presses in.

On the drive to work, you glance at the gas station marquee and see prices climbing again. The radio shifts to breaking news about global conflict, political tension, and economic uncertainty. Just like that, the peace you woke up with begins to slip away. What started as confidence becomes a tug-of-war between the faith you long to hold onto and the weight of the world pressing against you.

But here is the truth we often forget: God never promised a pressure-free life; He promised His presence in the middle of it.

I have a T-shirt that reads, "Faith does not make it easy; it makes it possible." That statement holds so much truth. Faith does not remove our problems, but trusting God makes every burden lighter because His strength meets us in the middle of the struggle.

When life feels overwhelming, anchor yourself in this truth: you belong to God. Unlike the ups and downs of life or the constant noise of the news, God's promises never change. They stay steady, even when everything else feels uncertain. Allow His unchanging promises to quiet your frustrations, pull you out of fear, and guide you back into a place of peace.

Some of God's Unchanging Promises

  • Deuteronomy 31:6 – He will never leave you nor forsake you.
  • 2 Corinthians 12:9 – His power is made perfect in your weakness.
  • Jeremiah 29:11 – He has good plans for your life.
  • Jeremiah 31:3 – His love for you never stops.

Even this short list shows something powerful. When you have a relationship with God, you already have everything you need to face any situation. His promises hold you steady, no matter what comes.

Four Blueprints for Courage

The Bible is filled not only with God's promises but also with direction on how to handle the chaos that life can bring. Many men and women of God have walked through seasons of intense pressure—some facing far greater challenges than we face—and they still stood strong. Over the next four days, we will look at four women who faced extraordinary pressure and responded with phenomenal courage:

  • Shiphrah and Puah – Obeyed God even when it meant risking their lives.
  • Deborah – Led with confidence while her nation was paralyzed by fear.
  • Jochebed – Released her child into God's hands during a season of deadly oppression.
  • Esther – Risked her safety to walk in God's purpose.

These were ordinary women living through exceptional times. Some were mothers, some were caregivers, and some were leaders. They carried the weight of their families, their fears, and, in some cases, the fate of their nation. Yet, they stood strong because they knew they were not standing alone.

The same God who stood with them stands with you now. He is with you in every season. He is always present, ready to lift what feels too heavy, and faithful to carry you through every chapter of your life.

Reflection Questions

  1. What pressures have been weighing on your heart lately?
  2. What do you hope to gain from this study?

Prayer

Heavenly Father,

As we dive into this series, prepare our hearts and minds to receive Your truth. Quiet our fears, strengthen our faith, and help us trust You when life feels heavy. Teach us to stand strong, not in our own strength, but in      Yours. Shape us through Your Word and remind us that we are never standing alone.

In Jesus' name, Amen.
