🕊 Day 6 – The Peace of His Presence

“You shall not be afraid of the terror by night, Nor of the arrow that flies by day.” — Psalm 91:5 (NKJV)

In a world full of uncertainty—the economy, the safety of our children in schools, wars, and the struggles of everyday life—it’s easy to feel overwhelmed. But the Bible tells us, “Be anxious for nothing” (Philippians 4:6). The question is: how do we avoid anxiety?

Scripture gives us a clear answer:

“Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.” — Philippians 4:6–7 (NKJV)

This is where we step into the secret place—a place of intimacy, refuge, and communion with the Lord.

Trusting Him Above the Storm

Psalm 27:5 says:

“For in the time of trouble He shall hide me in His pavilion;

In the secret place of His tabernacle He shall hide me;

He shall set me high upon a rock.” (NKJV)

David, the author of most of the Psalms, understood that God’s presence was a place of refuge. In ancient times, a visitor entering someone’s tent would be protected by the owner—the tent was a place of safety. In the same way, when we step into God’s presence, He covers and protects us no matter what we are facing. When Scripture says, “He shall set me high upon a rock,” it means that God will elevate us above our problems. The difficulties may not disappear, but God gives us the strength, wisdom, and peace to rise above them. Psalm 91:1 reminds us:

“He who dwells in the secret place of the Most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty.”

To dwell means to remain, to stay, to settle in. When we choose to remain in God’s presence, we receive guidance, peace, rest, security, and stability. We can rest from our worries because we are shielded by Almighty God—the One who can protect us in every circumstance. Isaiah 40:31 adds:

“But those who wait on the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles...”

In the secret place, we are refreshed—spiritually, physically, and emotionally. Sometimes, though, we must simply be still and wait on God. Don’t rush. Stay until He renews your strength. Like eagles soaring above the storm, God empowers us to rise above our troubles. That strength allows us to run and not grow weary, to walk and not faint. The “running” represents the seasons of actively serving and pressing forward. The “walking” represents the steady, step-by-step journey of faith. God provides strength for every season. Jesus extends this invitation in Matthew 11:28:

“Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.”

If you are emotionally, mentally, or physically exhausted, accept Jesus’ invitation to rest. This rest is a deep peace that the world cannot give. But to receive it, you must stop carrying your burdens alone—surrender them to Him. Resting in the secret place means trusting God completely. Even when you don’t understand what’s happening, release control and lean on Him. Isaiah 26:3 promises:

“You will keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on You, because he trusts in You.”

Worry is often a sign that we are trying to control the outcome. Instead, replace worry with faith. Seek God’s will. Ask Him for wisdom in hard seasons. Listen to His Word. Let His promises bring peace to your heart. Trusting God also means waiting on His timing. Don’t rush His process. He is the Potter, and you are the clay. When God delays, it isn’t denial—He is still working, even when you can’t see it. To dwell in the secret place is to trust Him in all things—and to find peace even in the middle of the storm.

Let's Reflect

  • According to Psalm 91, what promises come with dwelling in God’s secret place? Hint: See day 2.
  • Can you still experience His refuge even when you don’t feel His presence?
  • What fear are you carrying today that you need to surrender to Him?

Let's Pray

Lord, I long to be close to You. Thank You for welcoming me into the secret place—a haven of peace, protection, and love. When life feels uncertain and fear rises, remind me that You are my refuge and the God I trust. Teach me to remain under Your shadow—not only in times of trouble but always. Guide my thoughts and emotions so I may dwell with You daily, not as a temporary retreat but as a way of life. Forgive me for seeking comfort elsewhere and help me to choose You first. Cover me, Lord, and shelter me under Your wings. I entrust my life, my family, and my future into Your hands. Grant me rest in Your perfect peace, knowing You are always with me.

In Jesus’ name,

Amen.
