My Blessings

Ephesians 1:3“Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places in Christ.”

Recognizing the Source

First, we must recognize where our blessings come from. They come from God our Father through our Savior, Jesus Christ. He is the source of all blessings. Blessed means to be fully satisfied, happy, consecrated, made holy, and to speak well of.

True Blessings

True blessing is found in an intimate relationship with God—being like Him and being set apart for Him. Earthly blessings are good, but they are temporary. Eternal blessings are what we should focus on, because they are lasting and secure in Christ.

Already Given

Paul reminds us that God has blessed us. This means our blessings are not only future promises; they are already ours as believers. We live from a place of blessing, not striving for it.

Every Spiritual Blessing

Spiritual blessings are imparted by the Holy Spirit. Through Christ, God has given us everything we need to walk out our Christian journey: He chose us even while we were in sin. We are adopted as sons and daughters of God. He gives us faith, mercy, and grace. He clothes us in righteousness, declaring us guiltless and no longer bound by sin. He gives us access to His presence, the indwelling Holy Spirit, peace in the midst of storms, and the gift of eternal life.

Let’s Reflect

  • Am I more focused on temporary blessings than on spiritual ones?
  • Which blessing from the list above means the most to me in this season of life?

Let’s Pray

Father God, thank You for blessing me in Christ with every spiritual blessing. Help me to recognize what You have already given me and to walk in the fullness of those blessings each day. Teach me to treasure what is eternal above what is temporary, and let my life overflow with gratitude to You.

In Jesus’ name, Amen.
