Psalm 116:2 — “Because He bends down to listen, I will pray as long as I have breath.”
Have you ever paused to consider that the Creator of oceans, mountains, stars, and all of mankind listens to you? In our society, the more prominent someone becomes, the harder it is to reach them—whether it’s CEOs, doctors, or celebrities. Yet there is no one greater, wiser, or more renowned than God, and still, He bends His ear to hear from you.
📖 Psalm 40:1 — “I waited patiently for the Lord; He turned to me and heard my cry.”
God Answers in His Timing
Sometimes God allows us to clearly see the fruit of His listening—prayers once whispered in hope that later become reality. On my kitchen wall hangs a plaque that celebrates those moments. It reads: “I still remember the days I prayed for what I have now.” These reminders testify that God hears, cares, and responds.
But there are also seasons when silence lingers and breakthroughs seem far away. Maybe you’re in that season right now—waiting for healing, searching for a job, or hoping for multiple breakthroughs. Even in those waiting moments, your prayers never fall on deaf ears. God hears you. And in the waiting, He is refining you, strengthening you, and drawing you closer to Himself.
📖 Jeremiah 29:12 — “Then you will call on Me, and come and pray to Me, and I will listen to you.”
Prayer Is Relationship
Prayer is an open conversation with God—it’s not just a list of requests. He longs for a relationship with His children. Psalm 116:2 assures us that He pays close attention to us. Think about that: the same God who sculpted the oceans and placed every grain of sand along the shore pauses to hear your heart. That is personal, intentional love.
📖Jeremiah 33:3 — “Call to Me, and I will answer you and tell you great and unsearchable things you do not know.”
God Knows the Depths of Your Heart
God hears what words cannot express. He hears the cries you never speak, the tears you never shed aloud, and even the silence when language fails. He knows your doubts, frustrations, and heartbreaks. While the world may overlook your pain, God never does.
📖 1 Peter 3:12 — “For the eyes of the Lord are on the righteous and His ears are attentive to their prayer.”
God Hears. Always.
The next time you pray, remember: you are not talking to an empty room. You are speaking to your Father—the One who knows you, loves you, listens, and responds in His perfect timing, with love beyond measure.
📖 1 John 5:14 — “This is the confidence we have in approaching God: that if we ask anything according to His will, He hears us.
Let’s Reflect
Have you ever looked back and realized God answered a prayer you once thought He didn’t hear?
In what ways might God be using a season of waiting to refine or strengthen your faith?
How does knowing God bends down to listen change the way you approach prayer?
Let’s Pray
Father, thank You for being a God who listens—not from a distance, but with deep care and love. When I pray, remind me that You hear every word, every silence, and every tear. Help me trust Your timing and Your wisdom, knowing that You respond out of love beyond measure.
Draw me closer to You through prayer, and let my heart rest in the truth that You always hear me.
